Dear Martino,

You have lived your life. What a short life! Yet, you have touched the lives of so many. Your academic and artistic achievements speak for themselves. They are evidence of the stalwart you have been. Your life will be an inspiration to so many. May God bless you and accept you in His kingdom for your eternal rest.

Oyie Ndzie Dear God! September 12, 2013

I am still reeling from this news.  How can Martino be gone from us? Life is suddenly heavier and darker without this wonderful man who had a smile for everyone.  It truly was like sunshine.  African Blue Note, Zinc Bar, New York City etc.....!? My heart is so full and the words so small.  Will I ever stop crying?  I miss you so much cousin...... I can't wait to see you when I get home

I'm so sorry that I can't be there this weekend to celebrate the life of this man who brought so much joy and knowledge to the world... I am heartbroken at his passing and give Lois and Charles a hug and my sincere condolences. Martino thank you for your brilliant spirit!!!

Professor Atangana will be missed as a musician and Professor of History with specialization in Cameroon history in particular. His publications "The End of French Rule in Cameroon" and "French Investments in Cameroon" provide insightful and critical appraisal of colonial mismanagement and the disastrous actions of postcolonial management which led to the massacre of many Bamilikes. His bold scholarship is an invitation for action and rededication to the best ideals and human values which he strived to articulate through his music and scholarship. He will be missed. We ask his wife and family to accept our condolence over this loss.

Amen!
